Character Name: Uchiha Sasuke

Background: Born to a well-known ninja clan, Sasuke was the youngest son of Fugaku and Mikoto Uchiha. Since early childhood he was fascinated with Itachi, his elder brother. Day in and day out Sasuke sought his attention, acknowledging the fact that Itachi was far greater than himself and many others around them. Even so, he was glad to simply play with his brother and learn from him during their games, but many of those times Itachi was busy. Thus, Sasuke received an affectionate gesture of a poke to the forehead and an excuse from his sibling. Itachi appeared to be a genius as well as a very loving brother to Sasuke.

Fugaku praised Itachi’s achievements while simply ignoring Sasuke’s attempts at pleasing him. This in turn made Sasuke incredibly jealous of his elder brother. Itachi spoke to Sasuke, acknowledging the rivalry he displayed, saying that he will always be the wall Sasuke would have to climb over, even if it meant that Sasuke would end up hating him. Itachi’s violent outburst at three accusers led to tension in the household, which gave spotlight for the younger sibling, as Fugaku finally chose to spend time with him, teaching him a fire jutsu, the pride of their clan. Sasuke failed the first time, disappointing his father, but he persistently practiced, and eventually succeeded. Sasuke’s father spoke to him and said not to be like Itachi.

Mikoto explained to him that Itachi was to become the head of the family and a lot was expected of him. Everyone’s praise was directed at Itachi and as such Sasuke struggled to catch up to his sibling. And then one night he returned home late to discover his entire family slaughtered brutally. Sasuke walked into the room to see Itachi standing over the dead bodies of their parents. Unable to comprehend the situation completely, Sasuke urged Itachi to tell him what happened as the young mind couldn’t blame his brother immediately. Itachi admitted to being the murderer of the clan and commanded Sasuke to get more powerful, as the shivering, crying, and fearful child was too pathetic to kill.

The next day Sasuke came to in the hospital only to escape and return to the empty house and cry for the lost family. He decided to follow Itachi’s command and get stronger- powerful enough to avenge his clan.

Sasuke graduated from academy as the top student. With his goal in mind, he was frustrated by the teammates that were given to him. Sakura was one of his fan girls that he considered annoying, and Naruto was the dead last of the class. Their comradeship started from the wrong foot, Naruto tying Sasuke up when his guard was down, and Sakura letting it slip that Naruto’s lack of parents led him to be irresponsible and selfish.

Sasuke deemed both annoying and useless. Kakashi entered the picture then. His failure to evade the eraser made Sasuke think he wasn’t worthy instructor, but he was proved wrong during the survival training. Sasuke introduced his goals to the team as killing a certain man and restoring his clan. He tried to get the bells himself and almost succeeded, but his pride was his downfall. All three failed the survival test, being unable to get the bells on time, but they displayed teamwork afterwards by feeding a tied up Naruto. Kakashi approved.

After being continuously on low level missions, Naruto rebelled and demanded a better one. Sasuke agreed mentally. They received a C-rank one of guarding a bridge-builder and were attacked while journeying to Tazuna’s home. Sasuke protected his teammates successfully and later taunted Naruto for freezing up by calling him a scaredy-cat.

During their first battle against Zabuza they had displayed team dynamics. Without conversing beforehand, Naruto transformed into a Demon Wind Shuriken and let Sasuke throw him in the shadow of a real shuriken. Distraction worked and Kakashi was released. Later on the team trained by climbing trees without using their hands, just purely by walking up with chakra. This was a battle of wills and determination.

Sasuke, alongside Naruto, fought Haku on the unfinished bridge. Despite their desperate tries to defeat him and get out of the dome of ice mirrors, despite Sasuke’s achievement of Sharingan, he seemed to have died when he jumped in front of Naruto and took a hit for him.

Confronted with this action, he told Naruto that his body moved on its own and that he should not let his dreams die. He was revived after the battle was over only to have an even worse rivalry with Naruto.

Kakashi put his word in to get the team into Chunin exam. Sasuke noticed the change in Sakura’s demeanor and made her state that a genjutsu was set up to fool participants into believing they were on the third floor while in reality it was the second one. He was then challenged to a fight by Lee and was defeated, as well as shown that hard work beat natural talent.

In the Forest of Death, entranced by Sasuke’s heritage, Orochimaru attacked the team. Sasuke was about to give up, but Naruto taunted him and made him keep fighting. Orochimaru bit into Sasuke’s neck and infected him with the curse. Passed out from the influx of pain, Sasuke relied on Sakura to defend his and Naruto’s unconscious bodies. In his nightmare, Sasuke watched himself cry over dead bodies of his parents. The guilt for not being able to protect them rose up with the darkness Orochimaru brought. The snake did not have to go far, Sasuke already harbored plenty of darkness. It spread and consumed him, taking over his mind and body, appearing as blotches of black staining his skin. He ruthlessly attacked the Sound ninja that put Sakura in harm’s way. His rampage was stopped by Sakura, who cried and held onto him desperately.

They succeeded in getting the scrolls and arrived at the tower barely on time. Faced with the new challenge- the one on one fights for the preliminary exam, Sakura noticed Sasuke’s fatigue and demanded for him to back down, but he refused. Naruto tried to convince him as well, but Sasuke said that he wanted to fight him, thus, acknowledging Naruto’s improvements and making him take his side.

Sasuke had to fight a ninja that fed off of his chakra. Kakashi informed him of his inability to use charka because of the awakening of the curse. During the fight Sasuke overpowered the curse, surprising and exhilarating Orochimaru, who was observing the fight in disguise. The curse mark was sealed. Unknown to everyone Sasuke was slowly consumed by his hatred, eating him away and making the dark resolutions more and more clear in his mind. Kakashi took it upon himself to teach Chidori to Sasuke. During his match with Gaara Sasuke managed to wound him, displaying newly developed Chidori and speed, enraging and awakening the demon as well.

Sound, collaborating with Sand, devised a plan of attack on Konoha. Sasuke rushed after Gaara, who was carried away by his siblings. They fought, but severely weakened by overuse of Chidori and Sharingan, Sasuke was not able to defeat Gaara. He was taken over by the curse while struggling to fight it down and keep on his feet, Sasuke asked Naruto to get Sakura away from Gaara. He admitted that he did not want to lose any more important to him people.

As Naruto left with Jiraiya on a training mission, Itachi and Kisame came into Konoha. Sasuke got a word of the fact that they were searching for Naruto and rushed to protect his comrade, and more importantly, to finally confront his murderous sibling. Once he located Itachi he attacked him with Chidori. The attack was easily evaded and Sasuke’s wrist was snapped. After kicking his younger brother around, Itachi put him under Tsukuyomi.

After waking up with Tsunade’s help, Sasuke challenged Naruto to fight him, as he was severely frustrated with his blond teammate’s development and his own inability to progress. They fought on the roof, frustrations elevating as Sasuke claimed that Naruto would not even be able to put a scratch on his forehead. Anger grew as Rasengan and Chidori sparked to life. Sakura ran into the middle to stop them, but Kakashi got to them first. Teacher confronted Sasuke about the relationship with his teammates. He notified Sasuke of their similarities and told him to be more appreciative of the people around him.

Meanwhile, the Sound Four infiltrated the village and got ready to attack Sasuke. They quickly overpowered him and showed him that they had curse marks from Orochimaru as well, convincing him that he wasn’t so special and needed Orochimaru to get stronger. Sasuke made the decision to deflect and pursue Orochimaru’s way to power that night.

Sakura tried to stop him, and was close to getting through to him, but Sasuke made up his mind and no one would have been successful. He admitted that he was happy with Team 7, but needed a new way to power. He then called her annoying in a more affectionate way compared to the time when Team 7 just started. Sasuke knocked her out afterwards.

Outside of Konoha Sound Four greeted him, this time with deep bows and apologies, accepting him as their leader. They gave him pills to strengthen him, but warned that in order to get more powerful he’d have to die. Sasuke agreed and was put in a coffin. Upon getting out of the coffin, Sasuke ran to Orochimaru. Naruto followed and they finally clashed at the Valley of the End. As the fight progressed, both became more animalistic. Sasuke let the curse take him over completely, going to a whole new level. He admitted that Naruto has become his most important friend. Memory of Itachi telling him that he would only get stronger if he killed his best friend was revealed and Sasuke’s intentions became clear. In order to get Mangekyo Sharingan he’d have to kill Naruto and once and for all sever the bonds they had built.

He left unconscious Naruto in his wake along with the scratched Konoha headband. Sasuke spared his life, claiming to not be Itachi’s puppet. For almost three years he remained by Orochimaru’s side. He trained and got immensely powerful. When the Team 7 was reunited he told Naruto that he didn’t kill him on a whim, and could potentially kill him on a whim as well.

When he found the right time Sasuke fought Orochimaru once he outlived his usefulness and was victorious by taking him over. He formed a team with Suigetsu, Karin, and Juugo in order to locate and murder Itachi Uchiha. None of them were thrilled to travel together. Karin showed signs of a crush on Sasuke, that being one of her reasons to accompany him, Suigetsu pursued his goal of collecting Kisame’s sword, and Juugo came to realize that Sasuke was the only one that could control his killing urges, being the new Kimimaro to him.

Sasuke encountered a problem with Deidara, who almost blew him up in his suicide explosion. But he was able to transport himself away by summoning Manda, who was controlled by Sharingan.

Sasuke finally found Itachi and battled him. Itachi revealed the origins of Mangekyo Sharingan and the reason for killing the clan. He informed Sasuke that he needed his eyes. Sasuke refused to submit and eventually Orochimaru broke through and lunged at Itachi. He sealed the snake away and freed Sasuke from the curse. As Itachi made his way to Sasuke, both at the last of their strengths, he reached out to get the eyes, but collapsed after poking Sasuke’s forehead and leaving a trail of blood on his brother’s face.

Sasuke came to at Tobi’s hideout where Tobi revealed himself to be Madara Uchiha. Through Sasuke’s struggles to remain ignorant to the truth about Itachi, Madara informed him of the plans of Uchiha clan to separate from Konoha and the fact that Itachi was ordered to slaughter the clan while having deep conflictions. Itachi did everything to protect Sasuke. In the last gesture of brotherly love he even gave Sasuke his eye techniques.

Having found a new goal in life, namely the destruction of Konoha, Sasuke and his team joined Akatsuki and went to hunt for the vessel of eight-tailed demon. He claimed that they were the ones using Akatsuki, not the other way around. After a long battle that they almost lost, team Hawk captured Killer Bee. Sasuke used his new Mangekyo Sharingan to protect his comrades, which was harmful to his eyes. Unknown to Team Hawk Killer Bee escaped.

Personality: Sasuke is a complicated person. He is hotheaded and vengeful. He’s inconsiderate and has his own goals that he pursues without bothering to ask anyone’s opinion. He strongly believes that no one could possibly understand him and his pain. Sasuke believes that bonds exist to be severed.

He refused to kill the men he fought at Orochimaru’s lair since he had nothing against them personally, but he showed a truly cold heart when attacking Orochimaru, Deidara, and later Itachi. Sasuke even ordered his team not to kill their enemies, just wound and render them immobile.

He is bratty, demanding, and displays attitude. Despite appearing impassive on the outside for the most part, he is incredibly intimidating when he feels it is needed. Thus, Sasuke has the ability to calm down the arguments in his new team as their terrifying leader with killing intent radiating off of him.

Sasuke usually doesn’t understand the value of people around him until he’s about to lose them- when that happens he throws himself in front of them in order to defend them. He’s generally quiet and reserved, but could attack if provoked or if it’s for the mission, and of course, if it’s to sever the bonds with close to him people.

He’s righteous in his goals and beliefs. Sasuke either asks or threatens people to work the way he wants them to. He doesn’t obey authority unless there is a benefit for him in the end. Sasuke doesn’t enjoy physical contact for the most part, as he asks his fan girls not to touch him. Sasuke is not interested in relationships, he has no time for such frivolities. But without meaning to, he develops comradeship with the teammates he has.

Sasuke is furiously competitive. He improves by making himself better than others. He finds someone that catches his interest with their strength and he compares his own abilities by fighting them. (Lee, Gaara, Naruto, Itachi, etc…)

The topic of his family is a sore spot.
